Who are you? My name is Paige Bettermann, I am a 2027 Pitcher and First Baseman out of Cape Coral, Florida. I am in 8th grade and play for the SFL Intensity 14U.

"Paige is the kind of student every Pitching coach wants to have walk in their door. Her passion, work ethic, and ability to make adjustments both physically and mentally is unparalleled."

--- Pitching Coach Aly Bermudez

How did your softball journey begin? It started at the Ballfield, watching my older sister Lexi playing.

What are your greatest strengths as a softball player? People tell me about my ability to stay calm and my work ethic.

What kind of hitter are you, and what are your most recent offensive stats? I throw right but hit left. I am a line-drive situational type of hitter. This past fall, I hit .515 with 21 RBI and seven doubles.

Describe your leadership style and what characteristics do you find in outstanding leaders? Mine is quieter and lead by example. I am not overly vocal, but I am working on it. Good leaders do what they say. They do it with you and not just tell you what to do.

You're obviously very busy with so many activities and events in your life. How do you balance your life and manage your time so effectively? I have set schedules of things I need to accomplish daily and goals I make for myself.

Describe your game day mental preparation and your thought process and mindset in the circle and/or the batters box. I use my warm-up to visualize and feel what I need to do in the game. That works for both Pitching and hitting. In the game, I focus on doing what my team needs at that moment.

What is your favorite sports memory and greatest achievement? Going to Oklahoma this past summer with the Region 3 Freedom (Team Florida) 12U All-American team. We placed second but made a great run losing a close game to a great team from Texas. Winning the Defensive Player of the Tournament at the USSSA Direct Select AA games when I was a first-year 12U player.

How do you handle adversity and even failure? It is a process I am still learning. I try to use it to motivate me and set new goals for myself.

"She is a player that her team looks to in challenging situations, and she is a player with high energy throughout the game. Her team moves to another level to match her energy when she is in the circle."

--- Coach Delvin (Chonky) Pascual, Intensity Softball

How would your teammates and friends describe you? Quiet and maybe shy. Many tell me I am hard working and organized also.

Who is your role-model and or idol and why? My older Sister Lexi. She has shown me that you can create many opportunities in and out of softball through hard work and determination.

If you could spend a day with any softball player, former or current, who would it be and why? Kinzie Hansen from Oklahoma. I like her approach to hitting and how she gives 100% every game. I would have many questions for her.

What is your softball dream/goal? My goal is to play in and win the College World Series.

Describe your perfect softball team. My perfect team is one where everyone has the same goals and mindset and is ready to compete in every game. Also, a group with a positive attitude and respect towards one another.

When deciding on what college team to play for what are the most important things you're looking for? First is if they have the degree program I will be looking for. Then a program where the coaches value hard work and have standards players need to follow.

What gets you hyped or ready before a game? Music!

What is your favorite jersey number and why did you choose it? The number 9, because its my birthday, because I was born in 2009 and my older sister's birthday is nine days after mine.

What other hobbies do you have to balance out softball and your personal life? Volleyball, reading, I co-own http://Floridafastpitch.com with my three sisters and mom. So, I am learning to write and cover the sport.

Who would you like to thank for your softball achievements and support? My parents for supporting me and helping me reach my goals. My younger sister for working out with me daily as well. She is going to see it all pay off also!

The Bettermann family

If you don't mind, can you please share your experiences with Hurricane Ian? We were at ground zero of Hurricane Ian. We are blessed that we did not lose our home as some friends did. We are still waiting, like many, to get repairs done, but we are ok, and our house is livable. One of the pictures below is my sister and me getting ready to unload a U-haul full of supplies to a shelter. This was all donated by teams across the state. We worked with groups to coordinate donations and help serve food to those who lost so much. Another picture is of us spending a day serving people.
