Who are you?

I am a dog loving athlete that loves to spend time with family and my sisters. I love to workout and play with my dog OaKCey, and hang out with my sisters Kilea & Covee.

How did your softball journey begin?

I started playing softball at 7 because I was allergic to leotards in dance and hated soccer. My mom found a local rec league and I was hooked.

What are your greatest strengths as a softball player?

Being a team player, having a great attitude, and hustle. I think those help me help my team.

What kind of hitter are you and what are your most recent offensive stats?

Contact hitter that can put the ball in play when needed and have the power to put it out. This past fall, I played up in 16u hitting .300, .933 OPS, .560 Slugging and led the team in RBIs.

Describe your leadership style and what characteristics do you find in outstanding leaders?

Don’t consider myself a team leader but consider myself a great teammate. I like to support the team whenever I can with encouragement, high fives, and positive feedback.

You’re obviously very busy with so many activities and events in your life. How do you balance your life and manage your time so effectively?

Family. With all of us being busy with school, work, and sports, it keeps our schedule packed. Makes it easier to do daily workouts when we have a schedule that keeps you moving.

Describe your gameday mental preparation and your thought process and mindset in the circle and/or the batters box.

I love to play which helps with game day prep. I get so excited vs being nervous. I love the sport and very happy to take the field. So when I’m in the batters box, I am having fun; not butterflies. Also, I like to arrive at least 30 minutes early before my coach tells us to arrive.

What is your favorite sports memory and greatest achievement?

Favorite sports memory was the 2020 PGF Super Select in Columbia TN. We played an 8am game and lost. There was a rain delay for an hour and then we had to win to stay alive. We played game after game till a 11pm championship and won! It was after midnight, but a crazy day of softball.

Greatest Achievement-

1. Improving year after year. Always having a goal to push to and trying to get there

2. The 15u Women’s National Team. My ultimate goal is to play in the Olympics. This is such an honor and first step.

How do you handle adversity and even failure?

There aren’t failures. It’s a marathon and you have stumbles. Have to always look to next play; the stumble happened and it’s over. What’s next.

How would your teammates and friends describe you?

Energetic, fun, caring. A team mom I’ve been told.

What is your softball dream/goal?

Play for Olympics and in college.

When deciding on what college team to play for what are the most important things you’re looking for? Is it location, academics, conference, championship winning history, school reputation, coaching staff, team chemistry, weather, school colors etc?

All of the above really and if they have a great food court!

What gets you hyped or ready before a game?

Celsius. They are my favorite.

What is your favorite jersey number and why did you choose it?

#2 - First, it started at 2019 USSSA All American when I got #22. It continued on the Bolts with #22, then when I got to Hotshots, #22 was taken so I went with #2. I like to keep a #2 when possible.

What other hobbies do you have to balance out softball and your personal life?

Playing with my dog, coloring, hanging with my sisters, working at the cages.

Who would you like to thank for your softball achievements and support?

Mom and dad, and coaches throughout the years; they have been awesome.

What do coaches say about Taegan?

"Taegan (Tae) is an athlete that absolutely loves the sport of softball. A 2027 with knowledge of the game well beyond her years. She has tremendous power at the plate and extremely fast hands. Tae is also very smart on the bases and makes the defense question her every move. She can play wherever I put her, infield, outfield and even pitcher if need be. She is a 2027 playing up on our national 16u team and definitely holding her own. Tae is exactly what every coach wants….. a young lady with passion, one that studies the game and plays it with every ounce of grit in her body! She is definitely a Power 5 player in the future and one I will always enjoy to watch. Tae is the girl that just wants to WIN, and she will push until the last out believing in herself and her team. We will continue to teach and guide her into becoming the player she needs to be with the God gifted tools she’s been handed."
